🌲 Hashtag Survival

▻ I paused working on the Notion database for the weekend. I’ll detail what I worked on instead over the following few points. But you can view the work-in-progress database at this link. The image below is the page of games I still need to add to the central database.

▻ Hashtag Survival supporters in various spots - PayPal donations, Ko-Fi donations, former Patreon subscribers, and Substack subscribers- have asked about a central location to support Hashtag. After poking around the options (and weighing their fees versus the friction -difficulty or clunkiness- of their offerings), I ended up opting to use Discord.

While it eats more in fees on my end, it is a nice, centralized spot to structure membership. You can find the details in the Server Shop, located on the top left of our Discord server. The options are a tier for Discord-only benefits, a tier for Discord and Substack, and the final tier includes the previous perks and some more hands-on stuff. Substack folks, if you decide to forgo Substack/Ko-Fi for your payments and sub here, I will close out the other membership for you. The new tiers will include (similar to Twitch/YouTube/etc.) custom emojis- which, in this case, center around the SubCorn- plus various other benefits. And I’ll continue to tweak stuff over time.

It just made more sense to pause background work and get all of that set - it should make things a little easier for me moving forward. Hopefully, this will smooth out confusion- and as always, we appreciate your support!

👍 Pick-up: Conan Exiles and Retreat to Enen are good snags if you want to build and exist in a world that isn’t that mechanically complex. I also find their pricing more palatable on sale. Conan plays kinda like a small MMO in terms of exploration and combat.

👎 Avoid Inmate Survival, Under the Water, Erzurum, and Expedition Zero—mostly abandoned, scammy pieces of work.

Thoughts

• I gotta admit I’m curious to see how the upcoming open-world RPG title Bellwright is received, mainly because it seems to be made by Donkey Crew- the same folks that bludgeoned Last Oasis into the ground.

Content and News

• Icarus is doing that weekly drop thing, as we know.

• The developers at The Front finally implemented some anti-cheat and booted a long list of hackers late last week.

• Nightingale has sent out roughly 15,000 playtest invites in the past week. So check your spam folders!

• SurrounDead continues to implement their “Beginnings” content patch arc, so players would be advised to check the patch notes for each update as he’s making substantial changes. Also, if you’re a game fan- get into their Discord because there are in-server polls for player input, and you’ll want to chime in!

• If you’re a roadmap type of person, peep the one posted by Native Hunter.

• This question pops up occasionally, so I’ll include this reminder that, yes, a fan of Hold Your Own did take up working on the title after it had lain dormant. Unfortunately, he’s hanging up the towel on trying to fix the numerous issues with the game.

• I usually skip mentioning patches that are primarily bug fixes or minor tweaks because it’s easy to clog the feed with them- and many players will glance at patch notes if they go to log into a game and see a patch download at that moment in time. But HumanitZ is a tad sneaky, and their spot patches clump in content drops and notes about future content alongside the bug fix. So, don’t miss it.

• I’ll say one thing for the developers of Survival: Fountain of Youth - they give good teaser shots! You’ll want to check the article for images of the upcoming region and islands.
