Very First Survival Snippets! February 3rd, 2023
Survival game news for February 3rd, 2023.
⏰ You have seven days left to pick up the Survival Instinct bundle from Humble! $15 bucks is crazy for these games, I'd pay twice that for The Long Dark and SCUM ten times over. (If Farming is more your speed, check out this Fighting Farmers bundle!)
⏰ Clear your schedule! The next Steam Next Fest is slated for Feb 6-13. Be prepared for a ton of amazing demos! We'll update you closer to the event with a list of the games participating.
‣ Last night, I posted the first blurb to our new ghost.io page! This will be the new home to the Survival Roundup weekly posts and most other written content for the website. There will be some (many) growing pains as I adjust the location and layout of specific post types.
‣ Adjusted Discord channel layout(s), roles and permissions. Reminder again that some channels are locked behind the opt-in role designations, so be sure to add on the ones you're interested in!
‣ Great feedback and discussion in Discord on adjusting and adding to the filters available under the leading game directory on the website. I'll try to add that stuff this weekend, so I can pass through the list and apply new tags to the posted titles.
‣ Instagram and Reddit work is still momentarily paused while time & attention is directed to this new project.
Survival Gaming News
The Infected will drop a Steam news post on Saturday to showcase development updates & images. This post will build on the information released with the first developer video log, which I posted - and made!- back in December. The final draft of the werewolf AI (showcased at the top of this post) is pretty crazy looking!
The Prologue for Winter Survival has been pushed back. It will now be released on February 15th. (Source)
I know this happened yesterday, but let's briefly touch upon the hilarity that is The Day Before. After a metric assload (a legit measurement system) of drama surrounding this game, the developers decided to "showcase some game footage" to...I have no idea. To prove the game existed while showing that it was so beautiful & extraordinary, we should all be excited to be waiting for it. But, instead, it was a bubblebutt walking - and sometimes jogging- to the tune of some terrible elevator music. Honestly confusing as fuck because they somehow made it look MORE boring and empty in comparison to the trailers they had released last year. So mission accomplished if your task was to trip on your dick during a live video premiere? While the game's official Discord server seems evenly split between defensive hopefuls and bottom-feeding trolls, writers for many of the mainstream game-related blogs & websites have thrown in the towel. I had a lot of fun sitting in the Hashtag Survival Discord and talking shit during the unveiling, though, so I can't complain!
Endnight will release Sons of the Forest into Early Access instead of Full Release. There's so much work to be done- and content to be added- that they chose this path versus delaying the game again. (Source)
The Last Plague- Blight released a new & updated game trailer. Updated visuals and a peek at the building system in action. (Source)
With 13 days left, the sandbox survival title Occupy Mars has completely crushed its Kickstarter campaign and currently sits at a respectable $65,372. The stretch goal at CAS $100,000 is online co-op mode, so fingers crossed. (Source)
There's a lot of crap to digest in this post by the lead developer of Dead Matter, plus many images, video clips, and POI details. The main detail that sticks out to me is- early access slated for the Summer of 2023?? Whoa, if true. (Source)
